To write something on my beloved friend, guide and philosopher Krishna is a joy and a great failure! Osho says, "You write any number of books on Krishna, but still he is more unsaid than said!". How words can explain the infinite opulence? (In Sanskrit Bhaghas means opulence/ qualities. Those who has the following opulence can be called as Bhagawan! )

One is attractive due to 1) wealth, 2) power, 3) fame, 4) beauty, 5) wisdom, and 6) renunciation. One who is in possession of all six of these opulence at the same time is Krishna, the all attractive personality.

We have seen many rich persons, many powerful persons, many famous persons, many beautiful persons, many learned and scholarly persons, and persons in the renounced order of life unattached to material possessions. But we have never seen any one person who is simultaneously wealthy, powerful, famous, beautiful, wise and unattached, like Krishna, in the history of humanity. Krishna, who appeared on this earth 5,000 years ago, stayed on this earth for 125 years and played his leela (drama of the devine)

We all say sometime, " I am facing a lot of problems". But if you read the life history of Krishna, you will astonish that his life is always surrounded with dangers and struggles. Still he never lamented even for a single moment!

He born in the jail. On birth he is given to an another mother and father. When he was living and playing as a child, many enemies tried to kill him. He escaped all those attempts. Then fought many wars for him and also for his friends, actively involved in politics (sometimes very dirty too) and faced lot of humiliations. In all these situation he never lamented! never cursed anyone and never asked for the help from above. Not even done any meditation or mystical practices!

His life is full of struggles but he has got plenty of time to celebrate. His life is full of songs and dances. Unparalleled in the history of mankind. He has attracted more people than any other mystic. His words or more interepretted and misinterpreted than anybody's. Some people ask me some basic questions, when I speak about Krishna!

  • When Krishna actually born and died?
  • Is he a historical person or a mythological person?
  • Why Krishna's life has got some improbable episodes like "Rasa Leela" ?

I may not have any authentic answers for these questions. Alternatively I can quote my master's word in this context.

"Sosans biography is not relevant at all, because whenever a man becomes enlightened he has no biography. He is no more the form, so when he was born , when he died, are irrelevant facts. That's why in the east we have never bothered about biographies, historical facts. That obsession has never existed here. That obsesion has come from the West now: then people become interested more in irrelevant things. When Sosan is born, what difference does it make?- this year or that? When he dies , how is it is important?

Sosan is important not his entry into this world and the body, not his departure. Arrivals and departures are irrelevant. The only relevance is in the being "

As for as I am concerned, Krishna is my loving friend and master who gave me lot of insight to face this world and life with courage, love and unattachment. Some people says Krishna's words are more relevant to be followed than his dramatic life, but I do strongly feel that we have a lot to learn from the way he lived. In the next issue we will see some of the insights, his life has given to us.

...to be continued in the next issue.
